Unreal is a festival for electronic music inspired by altered states of mind. It comprises styles such as electro, minimal, psytrance and goa. Opposed to anything conventional and ordinary, pleasure and ecstasy, love and devotion, life and death are explored and examined by music, and time becomes physically perceptible. The music of this festival provides the soundtrack for the film in our mind. The vacuum of everyday life is filled up with hypnotic beauty by means of spherical tones, driving beats and transcendent rhythms. This is the music for altered states of mind. The Psychedelic Experience:
"Can You Pass the Bardo Test?"
Independent Closing Ceremony, 23 – 24 March 2008
The Psychedelic Experience is an instruction manual intended for the guiding of psychedelic sessions. It is based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead, describing the experiences of the consciousness after death, during the interval between death and rebirth, known as Bardo. It is possible to induce the Bardo state deliberately and intentionally with psychedelic substances.
The ceremony aims to give an understanding of the psychedelic experience following the Bardo concept with a "Audio-Visual Trip Guide", projecting relevant text passages of the Tibetan manual, combined with animations of sacred geometry and carefully selected musical performances.
